Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Presents Rooftop Farm Reception at Toronto Metropolitan University as part of Grey to Green Toronto Conference
Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is pleased to announce the Rooftop Farm Reception, a key event taking place during the highly anticipated Grey to Green Toronto Conference. This exclusive gathering will be held at the Toronto Metropolitan University Urban Rooftop Farm, located in the Daphne Cockwell Complex at 523 (288 Church St, Toronto, ON), on June 12 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. See the detailed agenda here, and register here.
The Rooftop Farm Reception promises to be an extraordinary networking opportunity, offering attendees a chance to connect with industry professionals and like-minded individuals. The event holds particular significance as it marks the first public opening of the university's innovative rooftop farm, a space that embodies the transformational power of urban farming.
Guests will be treated to views of Toronto's skyline while exploring one of the city's most unique and inspiring rooftop spaces. This is TMU’s second urban rooftop farm, and it is not only an architectural marvel but also serves as a catalyst for empowering and uplifting BIPOC communities. It symbolizes the university's commitment to sustainability, resilience, and creating inclusive spaces for all.
The reception is an integral part of the Grey to Green Toronto Conference, a conference that explores the intersection of green infrastructure and climate resiliency. Attendees will not only be inspired by the rooftop farm's transformational impact but will also have the opportunity to network with industry experts and learn about the latest trends in sustainability.
Tickets for the Rooftop Farm Reception are priced at $39 for conference attendees and $49 for non-conference attendees. Limited tickets are available, and interested individuals are encouraged to secure their spot early. See the detailed agenda here, and register here.
Earlier on June 12, the conference will host plenary sessions at the Centre for Social Innovation Spadina. Three speakers from the TMU Urban Farm, Arlene Throness, Urban Farm Manager, Nicole Austin, Black-led Programs Coordinator & Sharene Shafie, Research Coordinator, will present how their New Rooftop Farm is used for Social Justice.
